<Code For All_Kids> is a project with a social mission: to prepare children for the future by teaching them computer sciences. It is aimed, first, at primary and middle school students.

It strives to develop logical reasoning, troubleshooting and creativity, but also to help children become capable and informed citizens who can understand, navigate and participate in the digital world.

We created a visual universe that would not only unify all the educational content planned by the client – mainly games and videos – but that would also carry the kids’ imagination to a place they could call the ‘Code For All’ world.

A place where instructions are challenges and exercises, missions.

To help our client accomplish their mission of forming a new generation of future-ready kids, we first had to make them future-inspired.

Creating a strong sense of place was key to the experience we wanted to provide.

It had to be immersive, promote attention and connection-making, and become affectionately familiar over time.

So, we imagined a city. The map we created for it soon also became the map for our storytelling. It was very helpful in deciding where to set each story and to establish connections between videos and games.

Because we had to illustrate for kids aged 6 to 18, our first challenge was to come up with a style that they would all approve of.

We developed three style options and tested their impact on school kids, with the support of their teachers.

We developed the first batch of stories for the series of animated videos from plot to storyboard.

Each video had to address at least one UN sustainable development goal, be as universal as possible, and, of course, teach programming concepts.

Meeting all these requirements was only possible thanks to a close collaboration with teachers, with whom we iterated until we found the best solution.

In order to achieve this, we developed quick storyboards to test ideas and facilitate the dialogue among the teams.
