Aurora Iconography

A complete iconography system for Careem's design system, Aurora—created during the super-app's major rebrand. I led the effort end-to-end: assembling and directing the team, shaping production workflows, and building custom Figma tooling for prototyping and icon generation.

In a super-app serving 20+ services, iconography is where a design system becomes visible as a brand. For Aurora, we built an icon language rooted in Careem's identity—one flexible enough to scale across every product surface without losing its character.

Development and refinement
As the icon set grew, we needed a shared space where the team could see the full picture. A dedicated Figma environment became the hub for requests, review, and testing—making progress visible and decisions easier to coordinate.

Tooling

To keep pace with a growing icon set, we built a suite of custom Figma plugins that handled the repetitive work—generating size variants, applying style properties, and validating consistency across the full library. Less manual labor, fewer errors, faster iterations.
